Pundra University of Science and Technology (Bengali: পুন্ড্র বিজ্ঞাণ ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a private university in Bogra, Bangladesh. It was established in 2001. Professor Lutfor Rahman is the Vice-Chancellor of the university that currently spreads over three campuses. It was one of the eight universities the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh recommended for shutting down due to poor quality of academic standards.[1] The university was also served with show-cause notice by judicial authorities asking why it would not be closed down.
Established under HI-Foundation in 2001. Approved by the Govt. of Bangladesh under the Private University Act. (Act-34) 1992: on 23/12/2002.
A long felt desire and dream for the establishment of a private University at Bogra was cherished and nourished by the people of Bogra. As it is a gate way of northern region of Bangladesh comprises of sixteen districts with a population of about four crore. This dream and desire came into reality on 25th December,2000.
Later on a proposal for the establishment of Pudra University Of Science & Technology at Bogra was submitted under the guidance of Human Improvement (HI) Foundation to the University Grant Commission. After that the Ministry of education, the peoples' republic of Bangladesh has kindly approved the University on 23rd December 2002, Vice-memo No-EM/Sec-14/8 PRI. Uni. 8/200-482.
